Blog 1 Sunday

After the meeting this morning, I was too awake to go back to sleep, so a group of us headed to mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. I'm glad we ended up going because our group ended up staying together all day, making for a very enjoyable free day :)

The service was something nice and familiar when I'm far from home, and the cathedral was beautiful, stained glass, a huge mural behind the alter and statues of the holy family on the walls. Afterwards, we spent a good portion of the afternoon driving through the French Quarter looking for a place to park the van, eventually finding a spot about a half hours walk from the French Market.

We stopped at a cafe and got french doughnuts and coffee, both of which were amazing!!!

Once we found a parking spot and finally made it to the Quarter, we were all starving since we hadn't eaten before Mass. A cute outside cafe advertising po-boys ended up being out lunch destination, Billy and Natasha both had fried alligator, and the rest of us tried a few bites off their plates. Oddly it tasted just like out waitress said: like chicken and something else, but no one knows what the something else is.

Exploring the city on our own was a great was to spend some time with friends that I haven't seen in a while, I look forward to an early night and to starting our work days in the morning :)
