First Days in New Orleans

Bourbon street was actually a lot of fun. But,first, we took a nice self-directed tour through the Katrina-hit parts of New Orleans. Seeing the lower 9th ward, hearing the silence and seeing the emptiness, was very powerful. Imagining that it used to be as dense as Trenton and now there is one or two houses a block is very hard to believe. Seeing the Brad Pitt houses were really awesome though. I have a lot of respect from someone who puts as much effort and resources into rebuilding the neighborhood as Brad Pitt has.

So the tour took up the first half of the day, the next adventure was back to Bourbon street. We all went down yesterday, which was Friday, and it was a blast! I was amazed at the amount of street performers there were. Unfortunately.....the super awesome scavenger we walked around and found a good restaurant to watch the glorious Saints game. Because it took us about 3 weeks to park the van and find an acceptable eating establishment, we didn't start watching until the halftime show. It was great to feel the energy of every person in the room, along with the town, because everyone is a Saints fan. After that we just walked around until we had to go back. Oh yea, I got a lot of beads too, which is a good souvenir for the family.

Overall, it's been a blast, the bonners are a great time, we have yet another day to explore NOLA, and im excited to get workin'!

P.S. ROLLLLLL TIDEEEEE!!!!
