I thought it was awesome to see the architecture of the nicer areas. I was really impressed by the aesthetic beauty of many parts of the city. Even some of the rebuilt houses in the poorer areas were redone very well.
While most of the touristy areas or nicer areas are built up, but it's not like that in some of the poorer areas. Many of the run down areas are very quiet and/or empty. I've been to New York City, Boston, Chicago, Cleavland, and Houston in post-Katrina times. All of those cities seem so much louder and busy then New Orleans. It was just odd.
