These first two days have been drastically different experiences.
Monday we split up into several groups that were dispersed through an organization that was in the process of building several homes for residents that have spent the past few years waiting for help. I was sent to mud the house of a 72 year old man who was lucky enou

gh to have not been here when Katrina struck his neighborhood. When I had first pu
lled up to the house my initial reaction was worried as their were so many stairs and didn't understand how that was at all practical for a man his age.
Little did I know that Mr. Brian would be working with us throughout the day. He was kind enough to share his story with all of us and point out some of the most unique aspects of his home. One thig that struck me most that e had said was the he was nervous to move in because he is used to such a small living space an
d that he doesn't know what he is going to fill his beautiful new home with.
As much as we all wanted to return, we were sent to different sites due to rain, where we were asked to help with random tasks.
Although I cannot wait to start working on homes again tomorrow , it was important to see how difficult it is to provide relief for the community at organizations like Rescue Mission and the Food Bank similar to what we had experienced today.

I can't wait for great weather the rest of the week!
