Rainy Tuesday

This Tuesday I had the opportunity to work with
developmentally disabled people due to the rain. At first upon arrival to the
ARC we all were very concerned. The building was run down and not very people
friendly. There was a sign that said
recycle facility and all of us who volunteered immediately assumed we would
have no human contact at all.
Then we entered and
got the tour of the facility. We were
definitely getting our hands dirty, but not how we expected. We had the
pleasure of sorting Mardi gras beads with the developmentally disabled people
who worked there. This was an amazing experience. Working hands on was
incredible.
It goes to show that you should never judge a book by its
cover. What appeared to be a run down building that was going to just be a
recycling center turned out to be a great cause helping both people and the
environment. We instead got to work helping others and helping the earth. There
could be no better way to spend a rainy day.
